Spirited Online Debate Rages On
Over the Cavs' Blockbuster Trade

Our favorite hoops team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, just made a huge three-way trade this week, and we found this online conversation among Cavs fans at Cleveland.com interesting. We also got a special kick out of one wag's comment that this site, a hub for those with complaints about one of the traded players' poor shooting skills, would now receive fewer visits. The four new players are pictured above. The photo is by David Liam Kyle, a prominent Cleveland-based sports photog who used to take photos for me at the John Carroll magazine, and who at 6'-10, also played some college hoops himself, at Cleveland State. My favorite Dave Kyle memory: once, while walking back from a photo shoot he did with a football player who was the largest guy ever to play at JCU (about the same height as Dave), I listened in as the two giants traded suggestions on their favorite places to shop for big & tall clothing.

Well, I for one am optimistic about this trade. And what's not to love about Big Ben in a Cavs jersey?

I'm with you, Miles. This trade got me juiced. It may just be the last pieces to the puzzle they needed.

I hope so. Looks like they're going for a championship this year, not waiting 3 or 4 years down the road...

That's absolutely what this is about, because Big Ben only has a couple years left in him, if that, while Drew Gooden will be a productive pro for many more years. So in that regard, it was a gamble on the short-term.

I just don't understand tattoos on the neck...could be that creeping age thing.

Those tattoos creep me out too. Seems to indicate a lack of respect for one's own body. But the trade is a wash in that department: we're sending off one guy with neck tattoos and getting one back.
